Meet Kaj!

Hi! I’m Kaj (pronounced like “BYE”).

I spent my first 16 years of my career as a Broadcast Meteorologist – a type of meteorologist that shows you the weather on your TV screen. Now, I do forensic meteorology, which is the study of historical weather events, usually for attorneys, engineers and/or insurance adjusters. The goal of this webpage, though, is to have some FUN and LEARN as well, not to give expert, down to the sandgrain, testimony about Meteorology (because that can be really, really boring).

I'm certified by the AMS for both broadcasting and consulting and one of just a handful of professionals in the Midwest with that distinction (and the only one in Iowa). Over my career, I've delivered over 20,000 weathercasts, made over 1,000 official weather observations and authored over 350 forensic reports.

Please use the content in your classroom or your own home and let me know what you think of it! By going through all the pages on this site (and I'll add more when I can), I hope you'll come away with a solid foundation in Meteorological knowledge that can last you a lifetime. I plan to keep this site free for all users, but that does come with a maintenance cost.

I welcome your feedback on the new site! Please send a note to cedarvalleyweather@gmail.com
